Kara "Leann" Sturgis, DO
Dr. Sturgis grew up in Atlantic Beach, Florida, where a strong sense of community and a passion for helping others inspired her to pursue a career in medicine. She attended Florida State University for her undergraduate studies before earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale in 2005.
Following medical school, Dr. Sturgis completed her residency in Pediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. While there, she enjoyed the fast pace and diverse population of city life but missed living in the warmer climate of the South. After completing her training, she moved to Savannah, Georgia, where she practiced for four years before settling in Bluffton, South Carolina, in 2012. Since then, Dr. Sturgis has been a valued member of Seaside Pediatrics, where she provides comprehensive care to children from birth through their adolescent years.
Dr. Sturgis is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is dedicated to fostering long-term relationships with her patients and their families. She takes pride in providing compassionate, personalized care and helping children thrive at every stage of development.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Sturgis enjoys going to the beach, reading, attending church, and traveling with her family. She is married and the proud mother of two children. She can often be found attending her children’s school and sporting events.
Dr. Sturgis is passionate about supporting the health and well-being of children and is honored to serve the Bluffton community through her work at Seaside Pediatrics.
